Fans lost it when Yerin Ha landed a leading role in the next season of Bridgerton, and Netflix just added some more fuel to the fire. They gave us a glimpse of Ha behind the scenes and shared more details about her character Sophie, Benedict Bridgerton’s new love interest.
Netflix describes Sophie as a captivating and complicated woman, who was a victim of tragic events and spent her life working for the most demanding employer in the ton. After a life spent in the shadows, she’ll finally get a chance to step into the spotlight at Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, where she’ll transform into the enigmatic Lady in Silver.
Sophie’s last name will be changed from Beckett to Baek, as a way of honoring Ha’s Korean roots.
“A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing a name can be so powerful. To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering… It’s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold,” Ha told Tudum.
Before being cast in Season 4 of Bridgerton, Ha starred in Halo, Troppo, and Bad Behaviour, and she’ll soon be seen in HBO’s Dune: Prophecy.
