The masterminds behind Peaky Blinders have been teasing its potential return ever since this hit series ended its run, and they finally made things official. Cillian Murphy will return as our favorite gangster Thomas Shelby in Netflix’s sequel film based on the hit crime drama.

Peaky Blinders creator Seven Knight returned as the writer of this spin-off film, which will take us back to the lawless streets of Birmingham. He described it as another explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story, but plot details are being kept under wraps.

Tom Harper will direct this sequel film, and he’s coming on board as one of the executive producers. Knight will produce it alongside Caryn Mandabach, Guy Heeley, and Cillian Murphy, who can’t wait to step into Tommy Shelby’s shoes again.

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans,” said Murphy in the statement.

Peaky Blinders ran on BBC for six seasons, while Netflix handled international distribution. The show’s sixth and final season came out in 2022, and it was always the plan to follow it up with a spin-off film.
