After several pretty successful seasons on Netflix, the comedy series The Upshaws is slowly reaching its final stage. Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes’ sitcom will come to an end with the upcoming Part 7, which Netflix described as its final season.
The Upshaws stars Mike Epps as Bennie Upshaw, the head of a Black working-class family in Indianapolis. He’s a charming, well-intentioned mechanic trying his best to step up and care for his family, dealing with life’s many ups and downs with his loved ones.
In addition to Epps in the lead role, the ensemble cast of The Upshaws also included Kim Fields, Diamond Lyons, Khali Spraggins, Wanda Sykes, Journey Christine, and Jermelle Simon.
The six-episode Part 5 premiered on Netflix in April, and it will followed by a 10-episode Part 6 in early 2025, before this series ends its run with the 12-episode final installment.
The Upshaws co-creator Regina Hicks confirmed the show’s cancelation in a statement, saying they’re truly grateful to Netflix for giving them this season to once again bring warmth and funny to the fans, along with some closure. Wanda Sykes echoed her words, adding they’re excited to give the show and the fans a proper farewell.
