Gentefied, a Latinx dramedy, has been renewed by Netflix for an eight episode second season.
The half-hour comedy will consist of two fewer episodes that its first season and the cast and crew are set for a virtual table-read on May 20.
Created by Chicano first-gen writers Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, the series is adapted from the 2017 Sundance webseries of the same name. The bilingual series is set in Los Angeles and centers around three Mexican-American cousins who are trying to chase after the American Dream while the dream threatens the things they care most about which include their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather, and the family taco shop. The show is about family, community, brown love, and displacement.
The series stars Karrie Martin, JJ Soria, Carlos Santos, and Joaquín Cosio.
Gentefied is among the recent Netflix renewals including Ricky Gervais’ After Life, Locke & Key, Lost in Space, Atypical, Love Is Blind, and The Circle.
