Big Mouth is one of Netflix’s longest-running animated series, but its ending is just around the corner. The streaming giant renewed this acclaimed animated comedy for its eighth and final season, in addition to canceling its spinoff Human Resources after two seasons.

Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg co-created this series for Netflix alongside Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett, drawing inspiration from their real experiences as teens in New York. Kroll confirmed that Big Mouth is ending after eight seasons and reflected on the show’s longevity.

“If you would have told adolescent Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg that middle school would take eight years to finish, they would have been like, ‘Yeah, that sounds about right. This seems like it will never end,’” he said in an official statement.

Billy Wee, Netflix’s Director of Adult Animation, described this series as “a towering achievement in animated comedy” and said they’re thrilled to share two more hilarious seasons with the fans before this coming-of-age story reaches its conclusion.

He was referring to the upcoming second season of the spinoff series Human Resources, set to premiere later this year. Its characters are also expected to appear in Season 8 of Big Mouth, which will serve as the final chapter for both shows.
