Supercell is one of the most acclaimed superhero dramas to premiere this year, and its future is looking bright. The hit British series is officially coming back for its second season, after dominating the streamer’s top 10 chart in the past few weeks.

Supercell centers on a group of five people from different walks of life, who are brought together after they unexpectedly develop superpowers.

“Even superheroes have jobs to do, obligations to fulfill, errands to run. In Supacell, five South Londoners unexpectedly discover that they have superpowers. But they still have real-world problems, and life doesn’t just stop because you can travel through time with a snap of your fingers,” reads Netflix’s official logline.

Supercell stars Tosin Cole as Michael, a delivery driver who can teleport and manipulate time, Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Andre, a struggling father who has super strength, Calvin Demba as Rodney, a young drug dealer with super speed, Nadine Mills as Sabrina, a young woman with telekinesis taking care of her sister, and Josh Tedeku as Tazer, the leader of a small gang who can turn invisible.

Supercell premiered on Netflix on June 27 to positive reviews, and its renewal comes on the heels of its success on Netflix’s global top 10 chart.
