The Witcher created quite a splash since premiering on Netflix and the streamer is actively working on expanding this universe. The first trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin is here, and it’s taking us over a millennium before the original series.

According to its official logline, this series tells the story of seven strangers who join together to fight an unstoppable empire. It centers on Éile and Fjall, two warriors from opposing clans, who must learn to trust one another if they have any hope of leading this band of outcasts on their quest to topple the continent’s oppressors.

Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain will lead the series as Éile and Fjall, and they’ll be in pretty good company. The series will also star Michelle Yeoh as the sword-fighting elf Scian, Mirren Mack as Princess Merwyn, Lenny Henry as Chief Sage Balor, and Minnie Driver as Seanchaí.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will arrive on Netflix on December 25 and it will feature four episodes. It will give fans a chance to revisit this world while they wait for the original series to return for Season 3. The Witcher has also been renewed for the fourth season, with Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill in the lead role.
