It’s been over two decades since the latest live-action take on the Scooby-Doo comics hit the screens, and we’re finally getting a new version. Netflix has landed the rights for Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, which hails from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (Cowboy Bebop) are writing the series for Netflix after the streaming giant won a competitive bidding war for this project. They’ll also executive produce it alongside André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner via Midnight Radio, plus Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti Productions.

This isn’t the first collaboration between Netflix, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television. Their collaboration also gave us Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You, and most recently Dead Boy Detectives, which premiered on Netflix just last week.

This project is still in the early stages of development, and not much is known about its plot, but we know it will be based on characters created by Hanna-Barbera, and it’s been described as a reimagining of popular cartoons.

Scooby-Doo! comics previously inspired two live-action films in the early 2000s, led by Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, and Linda Cardellini as Velma, which grossed approximately $450 million worldwide.
