Netflix’s “The Stranger” Will Be a “Very Different Role” For Anthony Head

If you are familiar with Anthony Head, it is likely that were a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in the late 90s. Head played the lovable, caring Giles, who watched over Buffy throughout all seven seasons of the show.

Head is set to take on a new role in the upcoming Netflix thriller The Stranger. The show’s writer, Harlan Coben, has revealed that Head’s character will be very different to what we have come to expect of Buffy’s beloved watcher.

“It’s a very different role for Anthony,” Coben told Digital Spy. “I don’t think you’ve seen him quite this sort of frosty, almost, before. He’s not nice. Giles, I’m sorry Giles. We love turning people against type.”

The Netflix series is based on the novel of the same name. It follows a man named Adam Price, who encounters a mysterious woman in a diner and gets sucked into a chilling conspiracy.

Head will be playing Adam’s father in the series, a father who has never been much help and has been described by Head as “not a nice piece of work.”

The Stranger will land on Netflix later this year.
