New “Walking Dead” Series Casts 3 Leads

Michael Cudlitz, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, and Chandler Riggs in "The Walking Dead."

The third Walking Dead offshoot has cast its leads.

Multiple outlets report that the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff has cast Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, and Hal Cumpston in major roles.

While it is known that these three have been cast as leads, AMC has yet to reveal any specifics for any of the characters. However, according to Variety, Mansour’s character is described as a good-natured rule-breaker who lives for today. She is likable and funny on the outside but sad on the inside; Cantu’s character is said to be small for his age in addition to being friendly and an old soul. He also has a black belt in karate, and Cumpston’s character is said to be big for his age. He is a shy loner that scares some kids, but he hates the fact that he scares people.

The new series co-created by Scott Gimple and Matt Negrete is said to focus on the “first generation to come-of-age in the zombie apocalypse.”

The 10-episode first season is set to premiere sometime in 2020.
