Tyler Perry is one of Hollywood’s biggest titans, and his collaboration with Nickelodeon is proving to be quite successful. He created a tween comedy series Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan for this children’s network, and its fifth season is officially on the way.
Young Dylan centers on an aspiring rapper Dylan Gilmer, as he tries to adjust to a new life with his uncle and his affluent family after his mother doesn’t come home one day.
Season 5 will see Dylan and his cousin Rebecca “try to expand their fledgling hip-hop record label, while the whole Wilson family tries to deal with Dylan’s mogul dreams” per Nickelodeon’s official logline.
Dylan Gilmer leads the cast of Young Dylan alongside Celina Smith, Hero Hunter, Jet Miller, Mieko Hillman, Aloma Lesley Wright, and Carl Anthony Payne, II.
Tyler Perry confirmed the show’s renewal in a statement to Variety and said they’re excited about the next chapter of this story.
“Young Dylan has been such a fun series for families to watch together, and we’re looking forward to continuing the story of the Wilsons and Dylan as he strives to reach his dreams,” said Perry.
Season 5 of Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan will feature a total of 13 episodes, and it won’t take long for it to arrive on Nickelodeon. It will kick off later this year, with a holiday episode premiere.
