Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling Kay Scarpetta book series is getting its long-awaited TV adaptation, and its cast is an embarrassment of riches. Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis will lead this series, which received a two-season order on Amazon Prime Video.
According to its official logline, this series will follow “Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), the Chief Medical Examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.”
In addition to the two Oscar and Emmy winners, the cast of Scarpetta will also include Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Dorothy’s daughter Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher) as former detective Pete Marino, Jake Cannavale (American Sports Story) as the younger version of Pete Marino, Simon Baker (The Mentalist) as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Rosy McEwen (Close To Me) as the young Kay Scarpetta.
In addition to leading this series, Kidman is also coming on board as one of its executive producers alongside writer and showrunner Liz Sarnoff. She expressed gratitude to Patricia Cornwell for entrusting her with this role that she’s been pursuing for over two decades and added she can’t wait to inhabit one and only Kay Scarpetta.
