Nobody Wants This made quite a splash since premiering on Netflix last month, and it was just a matter of time before its renewal was announced. That moment is finally here, but the streaming giant shared one surprise—this rom-com will return with new showrunners in Season 2.
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody lead this rom-com series as an unconventional couple trying to make it work. She’s a brash, agnostic dating podcaster struggling to form a meaningful relationship, while he’s an unconventional rabbi trying to rise through the ranks and live up to his family’s high expectations.
Nobody Wants This will go through a major creative overhaul when it returns for Season 2. Erin Foster, who created this series and served as its co-showrunner alongside Craig DiGregorio, is happy to hand the reigns to Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan in Season 2 because she’s a huge fan of their work on Girls.
Konner and Kaplan will be leading their own writers’ room after joining the series as showrunners, and they can’t wait to get to work.
“It’s a dream to be working on Nobody Wants This. Erin is the rare creator with a crystal clear voice and a genuinely collaborative spirit. I am a true fan of Erin’s show and also feel so lucky to be back in a room with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls,” said Kaplan in a statement.
