Netflix made a brilliant decision to release One Day just in time for Valentine’s Day, and millions of people spent the holiday season watching it. The romance drama mini-series experienced a huge boost during its second week on Netflix, soaring to the top of the streamer’s weekly chart.
One Day averaged 35.2 million hours viewed and 5.3 million views during its debut week, but its ratings almost doubled just in time for Valentine’s Day. It attracted 9.9 million views to top Netflix’s English TV Top 10, ahead of Love Is Blind and Griselda.
The Tourist, Fool Me Once, Taylor Tomlinson: Have It All, American Nightmare, Warrior, Resident Alien, and House, M.D. also made it to Netflix’s latest top ten TV list.
Based on David Nicholls’ hit novel of the same name, One Day centers on Emma and Dexter, whose lives become intertwined after they meet on the night of their graduation. They go their separate ways but stay in each other’s lives through many ups and downs, constantly finding their way back to each other.
Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall led the cast of this series, which also included Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens in supporting roles.
