It’s been over a year since Season 5 of Orange is the New Black left us hanging, but we can assure you that Season 6 is on its way. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming season.

When is it coming out?
In a recent teaser, the studio announced that Season 6 will be released on Netflix next month on July 27th.
A trailer can be reasonably expected any day now.
What’s going to happen?
Things have been kept relatively quiet about where the new season will take place. The teaser trailer shows Litchfield cafeteria absolutely trashed and at the end of season 5, we saw the prisoners being carted off in separate buses.
We were also left on a cliffhanger when we saw some of our favorite inmates trapped in Frida’s bunker with the adrenaline fueled squat team approaching. We can assume that we’ll learn what happens to them in the first episode.
The only other clue we can go by is the voiceover in the teaser trailer, where an inmate (possibly Piper) says “it’s a whole new world.” The caption on the teaser “to the max”, suggests that the inmates will be carted off to a high security prison.
Who’s coming back?
We can assume that the inmates in the bunker will definitely come back, at least for an episode. Who survives beyond that is the question we are all asking. The ten inmates are: Frieda (Dale Soules), Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), Cindy (Adrienne C Moore), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Piper (Taylor Schilling), Alex (Laura Prepon), Nicky, Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and Blanca (Laura Gomez).
As for everyone else, we can’t know for sure. The last we saw of Daya (Dascha Polanco) she had handed herself in for shooting a guard, who we now know to be dead.
The other inmates might all be separated so it could be that we never see some of them again. It is likely that we will see Linda (Beth Dover), who is carted off with the prisoners and Lorna (Yael Stone) who we know is pregnant.
