Netflix has confirmed that popular TV show Orange Is The New Black will end after season 7, which will air in 2019.

Created by Jenji Kohan, the show is one of Netflix’s most-watched original series. It has won four Emmy Awards and received 16 nominations.

The cast shared the following video thanking all their fans for their support throughout the series. They also promise that we will not be disappointed with season seven:

Earlier this year, in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Schilling, who plays leading protagonist Piper Chapman in the series, said she was preparing to say goodbye to the role.

“It certainly is an end of an era,” she said. “Orange has been such a huge chapter in my life, personally and professionally.”

“I’m so grateful to have been able to play this part of Piper,” she continued. “I’m excited to let Piper go and put her to rest beautifully as I’m sure Jenji [Kohan, creator] will do, and let her kind of live on in her own world, when that time comes.”

The seventh and final season of Orange Is The New Black is expected to be released summer 2019.
