The first season of Beef experienced such a huge success that Netflix wants to bring it back as an anthology series with a star-studded cast. Inside Llewyn Davis co-stars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are eying lead roles in the next season of this acclaimed series.

When the news of Beef renewal first made the rounds online, Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Anne Hathaway were circling this project. Netflix never confirmed their casting, but it was reported that Season 2 would center on two feuding couples.

According to Deadline’s new report, Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are now eying lead roles in this project, replacing Gyllenhaal and Hathaway. They previously starred by each other’s side in Isaac’s breakout film, Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis.

Beef creator Lee Sung Jin said he’s open to continuing this series as an anthology because there are beefs everywhere to draw inspiration for, but he’s expecting the next season to have a different vibe.

“I’ve let go of the idea that anything I work on next will feel the same as Season 1… That doesn’t mean whatever comes next can’t be fulfilling, boundary-pushing, and truthful. It’s all about getting to know the new collaborators, having those deep conversations, and making sure everyone’s on the same frequency,” he told Deadline.
