It was just a matter of time before Stephanie Hsu was presented with an opportunity to lead her own TV show, and she welcomed it with open arms! The Oscar-nominated actress will star in Peacock’s upcoming comedy series Laid, and its premise is as wild as it gets.

Laid was created for Peacock by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna, and it draws inspiration from the Australian comedy series of the same name. It centers on a woman who must confront her past after learning that her former lovers are dying in unusual ways.

According to Peacock’s logline, this unconventional rom-com offers an unexpected answer to the age-old question “Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?” – a resounding: “Yes, there is. The problem is definitely you.”

Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna are writing the series for Peacock and executive producing it alongside John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment, Jennifer Carreras for Fierce Baby, Marieke Hardy, Kirsty Fisher, and Liz Watts for Porchlight Films, plus All3Media International.

Hsu got her big break with the Oscar-nominated role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, but her list of TV credits is also pretty impressive and includes The Path, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Poker Face, and American Born Chinese.
