The Diplomat is one of the most popular new shows to premiere on Netflix last year, and its second season will be as amazing as the first. The Oscar winner Allison Janney will join Keri Russell in the second season of this political thriller, in a small, but pretty significant role.

The Diplomat centers on Kate Wyler, who’s trying to defuse an international crisis and forge strategic alliances, while also trying to save her rocky marriage, after being appointed as the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Janney will join the series in Season 2 as Vice President Grace Penn—a character that was often mentioned but never seen on screen in Season 1. The Oscar winner, who also has seven Emmy nods under her belt, is set to reunite with The West Wing alum and The Diplomat creator Debora Cahn, and is expected to appear throughout Season 2 in a guest capacity.

The guest appearance on The Diplomat isn’t the only major TV role that Janney is gearing up for right now. She’ll soon star alongside Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, and Leslie Bibb in Apple TV’s period comedy Palm Royale, which centers on a group of women rising through the ranks of the Palm Beach high society.
