Owen Wilson made a successful transition to TV with the Disney+ series Loki, and he’s gearing up to lead another major project. The Golden Globe-nominated actor will soon star in Jason Keller’s Apple TV+ series set in the world of professional golf.
According to the streamer’s official logline, Wilson will play Pryce Cahill, “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago.” His life falls apart after his wife leaves him and he loses his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, so he decides to hedge his bets entirely on a troubled teenage golf phenom.
The 10-episode series hails from writer Jason Keller, who’ll also be credited as executive producer alongside Wilson, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Guymon Casady, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, and Chris Moynihan. Little Miss Sunshine duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris will direct this ten-episode series after receiving acclaim for their work on Netflix’s Living with Yourself and Hulu’s Fleishman is in Trouble.
Wilson played his first major TV role in the Disney+ series Loki and later made a cameo as his character Mobius M. Mobius in the post-credits scene of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. His recent credits also include Disney’s horror comedy Haunted Mansion and Bob Ross-inspired dramedy Paint.
