Knuckles is one of the most popular Sonic the Hedgehog characters, and it’s finally his time to shine in the spotlight! Paramount+ dropped the first trailer for the upcoming mini-series Knuckles, set to bridge the gap between the second and third film in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

According to the streamer’s official logline, this live-action series “will follow Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.”

In addition to Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Pally as deputy sheriff Wade Whipple, this spin-off will also star Cary Elwes (Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso), Stockard Channing (The West Wing), plus special guest star Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

The events of this series will set the stage for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, set to be released by Paramount Pictures on December 20. All six episodes will premiere on Paramount+ on April 26, starting with the pilot helmed by the original Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler.
