Paramount+ did a pretty good job bringing the beloved video game Halo to our small screens, but its TV adaptation has been pretty short-lived. The streamer announced they won’t proceed with another chapter of this story after Season 2 ended its run.

Based on the hit video game of the same name, Halo was set in the distant future and it saw Master Chief John-117 battling for humanity’s survival by leading the team of Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant.

Pablo Schreiber led the cast as Master Chief John-117, while Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani joined him in supporting roles.

Paramount+ released an official statement announcing the show’s cancelation, saying they’re extremely proud of this ambitious series, in addition to thanking their partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television for their outstanding work.

343 Industries will reportedly try to shop the series elsewhere, and they thanked their partners at Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing their expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.

“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” reads 343 Industries’ official statement.
