Season 50 of Saturday Night Live is shaping up to be pretty amazing, and we’ve seen several A-list stars take on the hosting duties since its start. Gladiator 2 star Paul Mescal is the next one in line after being announced as the host of the December 7 episode with musical guest Shaboozey.

Mescal’s hosting gig was announced on air during the latest episode of SNL, which saw Charli XCX pulling double duty as host and musical guest. The Irish actor will follow in her footsteps on December 7, and he’ll be joined by a recent Grammy nominee Shaboozey, who’s currently breaking chart records with his smash hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”.

Mescal currently stars in one of fall’s biggest box office hits – Ridley Scott’s long-awaited Gladiator sequel. He rose to prominence with his debut role in the mini-series Normal People, which earned him an Emmy Award nomination. He received an Oscar nod for his performance in the indie drama Aftersun, in addition to starring in acclaimed films The Lost Daughter and All of Us Strangers.

Season 50 of Saturday Night Live is currently airing on NBC, and the list of previous hosts includes the likes of Jean Smart, Ariana Grande, John Mulaney, and Michael Keaton. The cult sketch comedy will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special retrospective on February 16, 2025.
