Peacock created a lot of buzz for their mini-series Angelyne by releasing first-look photos and a short teaser, but they’ve taken things to a whole new level with the first trailer. It sees Emmy Rossum play the titular pop culture icon, who took Los Angeles by storm during the ’80s.

The trailer chronicles the rise of Angelyne, who rose to prominence after appearing in a series of around 200 billboards, which were splattered over Los Angeles during the ’80s. Peacock’s series about her life is based on Gary Baum’s articles for The Hollywood Reporter.

Peacock’s official logline describes Angelyne as a limited series “about fame, identity, survival, billboards, Corvettes, lingerie, men, women, women teasing men, men obsessed with women, West Hollywood, crystals, UFOs, and most importantly of all, the self-proclaimed Rorschach test in pink, glow-in-the-dark queen of the universe, Angelyne.”

Angelyne will mark Rossum’s first major TV appearance since she left Shameless in 2019. She’ll be joined by Martin Freeman, Hamish Linklater, Charlie Rowe, Lukas Gage, and Michael Angarano in supporting roles.

Angelyne was created by Nancy Oliver, the Oscar-nominated writer of Lars and the Real Girl. It will premiere on May 19 and feature a total of five episodes.
