It was just a matter of time before The Office universe started expanding, and that moment is finally here! Peacock officially ordered Greg Daniels and Michael Koman’s untitled The Office spin-off starring Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.

The new series will see the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch looking for a juicy new subject. They find what they’re looking for when they stumble upon a publisher trying to revive a dying historic Midwestern newspaper with a team of volunteer reporters.

Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Entertainment, said they decided to revisit The Office universe because the original series still continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock even a decade after its finale.

“In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper,” said Katz in a statement.

Greg Daniels, who developed The Office for NBC, co-created this series with Michael Koman, and they’ll executive produce it with Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) have previously been cast in the lead roles.
