The Traitors created more commotion than any other reality series in recent years, and it was just a matter of time before Peacock announced its renewal. The hit reality show hosted by Alan Cumming has officially been renewed for its third season.

Based on the Dutch series De Verraders, this reality program inspired adaptations all around the world before finally coming to the US. It went on to become Peacock’s most-watched unscripted original of all time, so it’s not a shocker to see it renewed for Season 3.

This reality show draws inspiration from the party game Mafia and it centers on two groups of contestants: “Traitors”, who are trying to eliminate their opponents to win a grand prize, and “Faithfuls”, who can get their hands on the prize by discovering the “Traitors” and voting them out.

The second season of The Traitors featured an ensemble of celebrities and reality stars, including Below Deck’s Kate Chastain, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Larsa Pippen, Dancing with the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and The Real World’s Johnny Bananas.

Season 2 is still ongoing on NBC, and six episodes aired since its premiere on January 12. The show’s renewal comes shortly after The Traitors won an Emmy Award for best casting in a reality program.
