“Peaky Blinders” Season 5 is Not for the Faint of Heart

Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, and Joe Cole in "Peaky Blinders"

Peaky Blinders is getting dirtier than ever in its 5th season.

Tommy Shelby is now a Member of Parliament, with the upcoming installment expected to focus on the rise of nationalism, populism, fascism and racism.

“There’s God, and there are the Peaky Blinders,” says Cillian Murphy’s character in a new trailer released by the BBC. “We own the ropes — who’s gonna hang us now, eh?”

“No-one is gonna hang you, Tommy — you’re gonna hang yourself,” replies his sister, Ada, portrayed by Sophie Rundle.

The trailer also shows off new character, Oswald Mosley, who is played by Me Before You actor Sam Claflin.

The real-life character, which became the leader of the British Union of Fascists, is Tommy’s new nemesis and can be heard declaring, “England lives tonight and marches on!”

The rest of the trailer includes explosions and gun-waving, before Tommy states, “Death is a kindness.”

Could this be the end?

The 5th season of Peaky Blinders is out later this year.
