Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is finally here, and the fans of the original book series couldn’t wait to see it! The first episode knocked it out of the park after premiering one day earlier and attracted 13.3 million views across Disney+ and Hulu.

Percy Jackson premiered on December 19, and Disney’s decision to release it one day earlier worked wonders for this series. Its first episode scored the biggest debut for a Disney Branded Television series, with 13.3 million views across Disney+ and Hulu.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the highly-anticipated adaptation of Rick Riordan’s beloved series of fantasy novels. Fans of the original franchise knew that the source material was in safe hands after Riordan agreed to co-create this series with Jonathan E. Steinberg.

This fantastical tale centers on a 12-year-old demigod Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), who must join forces with his friends Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) to restore order to Olympus after being accused of stealing Zeus’ master lightning bolt.

In addition to the leading trio, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jay Duplass, and Lance Reddick star in supporting roles. Percy Jackson and the Olympians will feature a total of eight episodes, streaming weekly on Disney+ following the two-episode premiere on December 19.
