Amazon Prime Video is in the process of casting the thrilling spy drama Butterfly, and another major star just joined its ensemble. The Golden Globe nominee Piper Perabo will star opposite Daniel Dae Kim in this promising high-stakes series.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, this series will center on David Jung (Kim), an enigmatic former US intelligence operative living in South Korea. He finds himself being haunted by his past while trying to escape Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), a deadly agent assigned to kill him.

Perabo’s character Juno has been described as a brilliant, formidable, Machiavellian woman, who used to be an idealistic lawyer before becoming a CEO of an intelligence company, doing everything in her power to protect the interest of her organization. This series will also explore her complicated relationship with her adult son, who works for the same company.

In addition to Kim, Hardesty, and Perabo, Butterfly will also star Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, and Nayoon Kim. It’s been developed for Amazon Prime Video by Ken Woodruff and Steph Cha as a six-part series.

Perabo is best known as the star of the USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She most recently appeared on the sixth season of Billions, in addition to starring in several episodes of the hit western drama Yellowstone.
