Amazon Prime Video put a modern twist on a Western genre with Outer Range, and its second season is just around the corner. The streaming giant announced this drama will return this May and gave us a taste of things to come with a series of first-look images.
Outer Range centers on a rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), who’s forced to fight for his land and his family after discovering a dark void at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness.
The mystery surrounding the void will only deepen in Season 2, which will see the Abbotts facing new threats as Royal and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) struggle to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s disappearance.
In addition to Brolin and Taylor, Outer Range also stars Imogen Poots, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, and Will Patton. They’ll be joined by several newcomers in Season 2, including Christian James, Megan West, Daniel Abeles, Kimberly Guerrero, and Monette Moio.
Brian Watkins created Outer Range for Amazon Prime Video, but he stepped down as showrunner ahead of Season 2, letting Charles Murray take over. The show’s next chapter will feature a total of seven episodes, set to premiere on May 16.
