After a lot of anticipation, Bridgerton is finally getting its first spinoff this spring, and Netflix has just given us a taste of things to come. The first trailer for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story just dropped and it teases the rise of one of the fan-favorite characters from the original series.

According to the show’s official logline, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Stor is “centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power” and it “tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

India Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest joined the cast in the roles of the young Queen Charlotte and King George, and they’ll be in pretty good company. The supporting cast includes Arsema Thomas, Michelle Fairley, Richard Cunningham, and Sam Clemmett. Golda Rosheuvel will reprise her role from the original series, and she’ll be joined by Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, and Hugh Sachs.

Shonda Rhimes serves as the show’s showrunner, executive producer, and writer, while Tom Verica was in charge of directing it. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will premiere on May 4, and it’s been conceived as a limited series featuring six episodes.
