The new season of Abbott Elementary featured many amazing cameos, and fans lost it when Bradley Cooper popped up on screen. Quinta Brunson recently opened up about his surprise appearance and revealed how this A-list cameo came together.

Cooper made a surprise appearance as himself on the third season of Abbott Elementary, in the sixth episode “Willard R. Abbott”. Despite being a huge star with multiple Oscar nominations under his belt, Cooper was up for a rude awakening when most of the Abbott teachers and students couldn’t remember a single film that he was in.

Abbott Elementary creator and leading lady Quinta Brunson recently discussed his cameo during Deadline’s Contenders TV event and revealed how it came together.

“We talked for weeks leading up to his appearance about what he could do. He’s a Philly boy, so it’s not far-fetched that he would be in the neighborhood. It would have felt weird if he came and played a character. He’s a movie star… It was better for him to play himself,” said Brunson.

She also revealed that Jalen Hurts also reached out to them multiple times before they came up with an organic way for him to make a cameo in Season 3, with fellow Philadelphia Eagles players Brandon Graham and Jason Kelce.
