If you’re in the mood for another series that explores the impact of AI on the real world, Sunny is just the thing you’re looking for. The new trailer for this dark comedy stars Rashida Jones as a woman trying to get to the bottom of a family mystery with the help of a robot.

Rashida Jones leads this series as Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan who finds comfort in the domestic robot named Sunny after her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash.

“Though at first, Suzie resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, gradually they develop an unexpected friendship. Together they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie’s family and become dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed,” reads Apple TV’s official logline.

In addition to Jones as Suzie Sakamoto, this series also stars Joanna Sotomura as Sunny and Hidetoshi Nishijima as her husband Masa Sakamoto, plus musician Annie the Clumsy, You, Judy Ongg, and Jun Kunimura in supporting roles.

Sunny was created for Apple TV+ by Katie Robbins, and it’s based on Colin O’Sullivan’s novel The Dark Manual. It will feature ten episodes, and it’s set to launch with the two-episode premiere on July 10.
