Renee Zellweger has signed on to star in a new Netflix drama series titled, What/If. This marks as her first major TV role where she will play a character named Anne, a shrewd San Francisco venture capitalist. The series explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things, according to Netflix.

The social thriller anthology series from showrunner Mike Kelley (creator of Revenge and Swingtown) and producer Robert Zemeckis for Warner Bros. TV, will consist of 10 episodes. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life, per Netflix.

Kelley along with Zemeckis, Melissa Loy, Alex Gartner, Charles Roven, and Jack Rapke will executive produced the project. Jackie Levine of Zemeckis’ Compari Entertainment will serve as co-exec producer.

Zellweger, who has a one-year regular deal for the series, is a three-time Oscar nominee in which she won Best Actress in a supporting role for the movie Cold Mountain. She joins a string of movie stars recently venturing into TV industry such as Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts.
