We’ve seen many Hollywood veterans make a transition to television in recent years, and Robert De Niro will soon follow suit. He’ll play his first major TV role in the Netflix series Zero Day, and the first trailer sees him searching for those responsible for a tragic cyberattack.

De Niro will lead this limited series in the role of former President George Mullen, who’s charged with finding the perpetrators of a devastating cyberattack while serving on the Zero Day Commission.

“Disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambitions of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide. Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear,” reads Netflix’s official logline.

The cast of this project is one star-studded affair, and it also includes Angela Bassett, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, and Matthew Modine, plus Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III in guest roles.

Zero Day was created for Netflix by Eric Newman (Narcos), Noah Oppenheim (Jackie), and the Pulitzer Prize winner Michael S. Schmidt. De Niro is joining them as one of the executive producers along with Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland), who directed all six episodes, set to premiere on Netflix on February 20, 2025.
