Marcel, the monkey from Friends, could be making his return to television.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the capuchin monkey, named Katie in real life, has been cast as a companion for Barry Keoghan’s Yorick Brown on FX’s Y: The Last Man on Earth.
It was actually FX CEO John Landgraf that recognized the primate star.
Landgraf, who worked on Friends back then, said at the FX party during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, “I recognize Jennifer Aniston, I recognize Courteney Cox, and I recognize that monkey! There’s nothing like a really experienced actor who knows how to hit their marks!”
THR confirmed Landgraf’s observation with Katie’s animal trainer, who confirmed the casting.
Katie is in her late 20s but still has plenty of career left as she can live to the age of 40.
