Ruby Rose to Debut as Batwoman for CW

Australian actress Ruby Rose will be donning as Batwoman for The CW, according to Variety.

The character will make her CW debut  in the annual crossover event between four of the network’s DC shows: “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl.”

The CW is currently developing a series about the DC superhero that would debut during the 2019-2020 season should the show get picked up.

The new series follows Kate Kane, is a wealthy heiress armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind. She soars onto the streets of Gotham City as Batwoman, “an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.” In a city in need for a savior, Kane must conquer her own battles before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Caroline Dries will serve as the writer and executive producer, alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter via Berlanti Productions, who will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television. Geoff Johns will also executive produce through his Mad Ghost Productions banner.

Rose first emerged in the American limelight for starring  in seasons 3 and 4 of the Netflix series Orange is the New Black. She also appeared in action movies Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017), and John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), and co-starred in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect 3 in 2017. She is set to start in the  action-horror movie The Meg (based on the novel of the same name) this 2018.
