RuPaul’s Drag Race, like many other reality shows this season, will air virtually.

VH1 revealed that both the Drag Race reunion episode on May 22 and the Season 12 finale on May 29 will be shot virtually.

In previous seasons the finale was filmed in front of a live audience with the final queens facing off in a series of lip-sync battles until RuPaul crowned the winner. The Season 12 finale was shot using an “innovative technology that highlights the creatively of the queens,” according to a release.

The episode will still follow the lip-sync battle format with the finalist and the reunion special will feature 12 of the 13 contestants. Sherry Pie will not be featured in the reunion as she was disqualified from the show before Season 12 aired. Season 12 still aired as planned with Drag Race producer World of Wonder editing out Sherry Pie as much as possible. At the end of each episode, a disclaimer noting Sherry’s disqualification was shown with a statement that the queen, “will not appear in the grand finale scheduled to be filmed later this spring.”

Yvie Oddly, Season 11 winner will help crown the winner and Season 11 Miss Congeniality Nina West will award this season’s Miss Congeniality. Vying for the title of Season 12 RuPaul’s Drag Queen are Jaida Essence Hall, and Crystal Methyd.
