Alexander Skarsgård is gearing up to lead Apple TV’s upcoming series Murderbot, and he won’t have to do it all alone. The streamer rounded out an impressive supporting cast for this project, including Sabrina Wu, Tattiawna Jones, Akshay Khanna, and Tamara Podemski.

According to the streamer’s official logline, this sci-fi series will “follow a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients” and “must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment.”

Murderbot takes inspiration from Martha Wells’ bestselling, award-winning book series The Murderbot Diaries. The Weitz Brothers adapted this novel for Apple TV+, and they’ll serve as its showrunner, writers, directors, and producers under their Depth of Field banner.

In addition to playing the lead role, Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies) is also coming on board as one of the executive producers. He’ll be joined by the Weitz Brothers, Andrew Miano, David S. Goyer, and Keith Levine for Phantom Four.

Sabrina Wu, the breakout star of last year’s comedy Joy Ride, will play Pin-Lee, and she’ll be joined by Tattiawna Jones (Orphan Black: Echoes) as Arada, Akshay Khanna (Polite Society) as Ratthi, and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range) as Bharadwaj. Noma Dumezweni (Black Earth Rising) and David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer) have also been cast in supporting roles in recent weeks.
