It’s been a while since we’ve seen Sarah Gadon star in a major TV project, but that will change pretty soon. She landed one of the lead roles in Netflix’s upcoming limited series Wayward opposite Mae Martin.

Wayward was initially announced under the working title Tall Pines, and it’s been described as “a thriller set in a bucolic but sinister town that explores the insidious underbelly of the ‘troubled teen industry’ and the eternal struggle between one generation and the next.”

Fell Good star Mae Martin serves as the show’s lead and creator, and she promised this series will be an insane roller coaster and so different from anything she’s done before, adding it will allow her to explore a story she’s been dying to tell for years.

Sarah Gadon is the latest star to join this series as Laura, the supportive yet independent partner of Martin’s character Alex Dempsey. She joins Brandon Jay McLaren (Snowfall), who’s recently been added to the cast.

Gadon is best known as the star of David Cronenberg’s films A Dangerous Method, Cosmopolis, and Maps to the Stars, and Denis Villeneuve’s thriller Enemy, and we’ve most recently seen her Michael Mann’s Ferrari. The list of her notable TV credits includes the lead role in Alias Grace, plus True Detective, Letterkenny, and 11.22.63.
