The cast of Dexter: Original Sin is getting better by the day, and another beloved actress just hopped on board. Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest actress to join the cast of this prequel series, as the boss of the young Dexter Morgan.

Dexter: Original Sin will be set in Miami during the early 90s, and it will follow Dexter Morgan during his early years when he was yet to become the avenging serial killer we know him as. This series will chronicle his origin story and see him learning how to channel his inner darkness without getting on law enforcement’s radar.

Dexter will be working as a forensic intern at the Miami Metro Police Department in this prequel series, and Gellar will play his new boss Tanya Martin. Showtime’s president of content Nina Diaz described Sarah Michelle Gellar as a “pop culture icon who perfectly rounds out [their] best-in-class cast” and said they’re thrilled to have her as a part of Dexter’s origin story.

She joins an impressive cast that also includes Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, plus Patrick Dempsey, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson in supporting roles.
