Ring that bell, kids, because a reboot of Saved by the Bell is headed our way!

NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock, is set to be the home of the new version. The original ran between 1989 and 1993.

The show focused on students at Bayside High School in California and launched the careers of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Elizabeth Berkeley.

Peter Engel, who executive produced the original, as well as its spinoffs The College Years and The New Class, will be back on board to executive produce the reboot, with Lopez and Berkeley set to return to the cast.

The logline states: “When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.”

The Saved by the Bell reboot is expected after Peacock launches in April 2020.
