“Schitt’s Creek” Wins Big at the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards

Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy in "Schitt's Creek"

After six seasons, the hilarious Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek is finally getting the credit it deserves. It made history at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, where it topped the list of winners with a total of seven wins.

Schitt’s Creek came out victorious in a majority of categories it was nominated in, including the best comedy series, and best writing and directing in a comedy series. Its stars Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy all won Emmys in their respective acting categories. This is the first time in the Emmys long history that a single comedy series swept the four main acting categories.

Succession and Watchmen both celebrated big wins in the drama and limited series categories. Another historic win came when Zendaya picked up the award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for Euphoria, becoming the youngest winner in this category.

The Primetime Emmy Awards took place virtually on September 20th. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ceremony, while the awards were delivered to winners via presenters in themed Hazmat suits.
