Hacks is one of the funniest shows that Max has given us in recent years, and its third season is finally happening. The streaming giant revealed that the acclaimed comedy show would return this spring, and shared a new photo of its leads Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder.
Hacks centers on an aging Las Vegas comedy legend Deborah Vance (Smart), who’s forced to update her act so she decides to hire a young comedy writer Ava Daniels (Einbinder) to help her out.
Season 3 of Hacks will return to Max this spring, but the streamer is yet to announce the official release date. They teased the show’s return with an image of two pair of shoes, belonging to Smart’s Deborah and Einbinder’s Ava.
This announcement comes about a year after production on Season 3 was paused after Smart underwent heart surgery. HBO Max and Universal Television released a joint statement at the time, wishing her a speedy recovery, “We are so happy that our beloved Jean Smart’s heart procedure was successful and she’s on the mend. HBO Max and UTV send their well wishes.”
Hacks was created for Max by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky, and it also stars Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Jane Adams, Paul W. Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, and Megan Stalter.
