It’s been years since we’ve seen Simu Liu take a major TV role, but he’s finally ready for his small-screen comeback. The Canadian actor will lead James Wan’s upcoming espionage thriller, which has been ordered straight to series at Peacock.
This untitled series will center on a first-generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu), who realizes his brain has been hacked five minutes in the future, giving someone access to everything he sees and hears.
Hale must do everything in his power to maintain a performance 24/7 and flush out the perpetrators in an attempt to prove his allegiance to the shadowy agency he works for.
Thomas Brandon (Legacies) wrote the series for Peacock, and he’s coming on board as one of its executive producers, alongside Liu and Wan, plus Michael Clear and Rob Hackett. It’s Wan’s second project with Peacock, following the horror thriller Teacup, which also received a straight-to-series order.
Liu is best known as the star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, but he actually got his big break while starring in the hit CBC comedy Kim’s Convenience. His recent TV roles include a cameo on The Other Two and hosting duty on Saturday Night Live.
