It’s been over five decades since Bewitched ended its run, and Sony Pictures TV is getting ready to bring it back to our small screens. Judalina Neira is plotting a series reboot of the beloved ”60s fantasy sitcom after signing an overall deal with Sony Pictures.

Bewitched ran on ABC for eight seasons between 1964 and 1972, and it centered on a witch trying to lead an ordinary life after getting married to a mortal man. It produced a 2005 theatrical remake starring Nicole Kidman, and several attempts to reboot it have been made over the years.

Judalina Neira (The Boys, Daisy Jones and the Six) finally set things in motion after proposing a potential reboot to Sony Pictures TV, described as an irreverent hourlong reimagination of the classic TV series.

Sony was so impressed by her vision for this project that they decided to offer her an overall deal, which marks their first agreement of this kind with the rising writer-producer.

“She brings passion and authenticity and has been such a champion for the representation and growth of Latinx writers – we knew we had to make a deal with her! We are so excited to have her call Sony home and can’t wait for what is to come as we deepen our relationship,” said Lauren Stein, head of creative at Sony Pictures Television.
