One of the reasons why Game of Thrones is almost everyone’s favorite TV show is that it goes the extra mile to be authentic. It pays attention to the details so that when you’re watching an episode, you feel like you have been transported back in time to a completely different world.
Sometimes, ensuring authenticity means that the cast have to give up some modern luxuries for filming. Sophie Turner, for example, was forced to give up shampoo and conditioner. To make sure she looked in-character, Turner was banned from washing her hair during filming season.
“For the first few seasons, I was allowed to wash my hair, because I was an aristocratic young girl,” she told In Style. “Towards season 5, they started asking me to not wash my hair, and it was really disgusting.”
Luckily, she is now allowed to wear a wig so she can deep condition as often as she pleases. She added: “Now I wear I wig so I can wash my hair whenever I want, which is nice. But yes, for a couple of years I was living with pretty greasy hair.”
Unsurprisingly, after being forced to live with unclean hair for a couple of years, Sophie Turner now rocks a perfect platinum do.
