Netflix has given us one of its biggest global hits with Squid Game, and the wait for its second season will soon be over. The streaming giant recently revealed some of their most beloved shows are set to return in 2024, starting with the second season of the hit South Korean series.

The first season of Squid Game centered on a mysterious contest with 456 players, who are asked to play a series of children’s games for the chance to win a life-changing cash prize. They agree to take part without really knowing what they’re getting into, only to learn that these games have deadly consequences.

Following its premiere on Netflix in 2021, Squid Game went on to become a true global phenomenon. It clocked over 1.65 billion viewing hours in the first 28 days on the platform, becoming the first series to reach 100+ million accounts upon its launch. It remains Netflix’s most-watched series to this date.

Netflix’s recent investor letter stated that the streaming giant has “a big, bold slate for 2024”, singling out Squid Game as one of the shows returning this year. Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo are set to reprise their roles from Season 1, and they’ll be joined by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.
