Suits found a whole new audience after hitting streaming services last year, and its first spin-off is just around the corner. NBC’s pilot for Suits L.A. will kick off production next month, and it found a perfect leading man in Arrow star Stephen Amell.

Developed as an extension of the Suits universe, this spin-off series will take us to Los Angeles, where Ted Black runs one of the most successful firms specializing in criminal and entertainment law. He’s surrounded by a group of characters who are constantly mixing their personal and professional lives and testing their loyalties to each other.

Before heading to Los Angeles, Black used to be a federal prosecutor in New York, and he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career once his firm reaches a crisis point, 15 years after he opened it alongside his old buddy, Stuart Lane.

Amell is the perfect man to lead this series because he’s no stranger to carrying a successful franchise on his shoulders. He previously played Oliver Queen on The CW superhero series Arrow and reprised it in several subsequent Arrowverse projects. After saying goodbye to this character, he led Starz’s short-lived wrestling drama Heels alongside Alexander Ludwig.

Victoria Mahoney will direct the pilot episode of Suits L.A., set to kick off production in Vancouver, Canada in late March.
