Season 5 of Stranger Things was a long time coming, but it’s finally moving forward! Production is underway on the fifth and final season of the beloved Netflix show, and the cast and crew shared the first photo hanging out together to mark the joyous occasion.

The black and white photo features cast members David Harbour, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton hanging out behind the scenes with showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer.

The photo was shared on Stranger Things’ social media accounts with a caption, “THIS IS A CODE RED STRANGER THINGS 5 has officially begun!!”, commemorating the start of the show’s final season.

The Duffer brothers compared the show’s grand finale to Return of the King and told Deadline it’s going to have eight different endings.

“Characters are already going to be in action, they’re already going to have a goal and a drive, and I think that’s going to carve out at least a couple hours and make this season feel really different. I’m sure the wrap-up will be a lot longer,” said Matt Duffer.

Season 5 still doesn’t have an official release date, but it will most likely premiere in late 2024 or early 2025 following a major delay caused by the actors’ strike.
